Is moses in a basket safe for Russian tortoises, or tortoises in general? I've tried searching for it a lot, but I can't find anything on it.

Tradescantia spathacea is not toxic, but is not pleasant to taste. If you search for it using hyphens, you should be able to find it: Moses-in-a-basket

You mean the wire hanging baskets lined with moss? Are you using it as substrate? You probably can't find it because it's end of season. Do you really need it, though? Your tort should be ok on top soil and peat moss, 50-50 mix.

Sorry for the confusion, it's a plant. I thin Yvonne knows what I mean. I wanted to see if it would be safe for "landscaping."

Yes, it is safe for landscaping. Your tortoise might take one bite and after that, having satisfied himself that it's not good, will leave it alone.

I looked up the scientific name, and that's what I was talking about. So would it be safe to use for an enclosure plant? Just for show and to "liven" it up?

That stuff grows like a weed in my yard (although I never knew the name). My torts have never touched it that I know of....they must know it doesn't taste good...but they do like to hide in it. Like Yvonne said, it's safe for landscaping.
