Mixing tortoises

What is peoples opinion on mixing different sizes of tortoise? I have a six year old hermans and was thinking a getting another youngster. Do you think they would get on?

First of all you have to have a quarantine period. It really is best if you don't put a small baby in with a larger tortoise because tortoises don't care what's in their way...they just bulldoze over it and don't go around it. A baby might be injured if that happens. If you're talking about a larger tortoise, but smaller than the existing tortoise, it might be ok. You would just have to try it to see how it works out. And since you already have a quarantine set up, you can always separate them if they fight. You never know. Its an individual tortoise thing.

John on TFO (Shelly) had an adult male desert tortoise living with a male juvenile. It worked out in the beginning, but once they grew up they had to be seperated due to extreme aggression.
