Fair enough. It it works for you, that is great. I've tried that sort of thing with my species and it did not work for me. All of the species I've kept try to eat the moss. RFs are not a species I have a lot of experience with because they don't do well in my climate.
I don't use sphagnum moss, to me that's messy in itself, loose fibers everywhere. I love sheet moss, mood moss, river moss, sheet moss comes in patches, kinda like a area rug. It's supposed to start growing... Bs! It never does! Maybe it's too hot in there. After a while (long while) it starts disintegrating so I just mix it into the substrate during cleaning.
