Thank you! Will be my first and likely only tort (space concerns and I don’t live anywhere warm enough year round.) I have the indoor garden growing and am excited to get them home <3
You don't have to worry about using they, them, etc. when talking about tortoises. it confuses the issue if you have more than one tortoise. And besides, that designation is really for humans, not animals.😁

It's simply my preference, especially as I used that particular pronoun in a comment stating this will be my only tortoise :D

Picture looks very AI enhanced do you know this is genuine? Just asking as we have history of sellers not delivering.

That guy is pretty legit and his tortoises are real nice. He sells exclusively Sir Lankan hatchlings. Last year he had several clutches and about over 100 hatchlings for sale on Morphmarket. He's made quite a few sales of them as well.

It's this guys. I recognized the markings from when I was shopping for one and OP confirmed it.

I recognized the markings on the shell as one of his. Are you sure it's an Indian Star because I know he mostly sells Sri Lankan stars.
I’m a bit lost on the nomenclature 😅 I’m aware it’s a Sri Lankan. Best I could determine, Indian and Sri Lankan are not confirmed to be separate species, but more a difference in locale, with the Sri Lankans being smaller and a bit more shy (my understanding, at least). So when asked Indian vs Burmese, I answered Indian. That may not have been correct. My apologies!

Uhhh no Sri Lankans are larger, they look very similar to Indian Stars but Sri Lankans are larger than Indian Stars and yes from a different location. Sri Lankans are also not as shy. Indian Stars are the smaller ones and shy.

Purchasing through Morph Market, where he’s very well reviewed. Seems like a nice guy all around and very helpful. If not, both PayPal and Morph Market will have my back. And he did take these pics of Tamil on their own at my request, so might have done something fancy with the photo setup

Ah, thanks for clearing that up! So what’s the proper way to refer to them? Sri Lankan Star? So odd to have two common names for the same scientific one 🤦🏻‍♀️ My poor brain

Yes they are called Sri Lankan Stars, they're not that much different and most people probably won't be able to tell them apart until probably full maturity. Their care is basically the same as well. Sri Lankans are maybe just 2"-3" bigger I believe, not all that different from Indian Stars.
