I'm so happy that you have joined the ranks of sulcata keepers!! Looks like your new little guy has never seen the sun (evidenced by the dark brown growth rings). He'll be happy if you get him into an outdoor pen quick as you can. I love that you've named him "Hollywood." That's how I name certain rescues that I keep. I have a leopard named Cincinnati and a Manouria named Pittsburgh.

Ya he has an outdoor enclosure with plenty of sun...

Will have some shady spots...anything I can do to help his shell??? And howcan I tell if he is male or female?

Also looks like she had him in potting soil...I have Bermuda grass and sand fo him

Bermuda grass is fine. Sand, not so much. It carries a high risk of impaction and eye or skin irritation.

Do you have an indoor pen for cold nights and winter too?
