mating russians

hi i have 2 russian tortoises a female and a male. they are showing all of the mating signs but i dont know when the mating time is for them and was also wondering if breeding them outdoors is as good as breeding them indoors.
thanks for any help. oh and im also new to breeding rusians

In the wild the most avid breeding takes place right after hibernation. However, in a captive situation, and especially an indoor situation, the tortoises have no season. The male is always interested in breeding...but the female might not be so interested.
