I’m in NJ so my climate is entirely different. But at some point in September or October every year Night time temps start going consistently in the 50s and that’s when I bring them in. If it’s 55 each night but gets to 80 in the day I’m good. Anything lower than that on either end it’s time time come in for the winter. As long as they’re healthy they can handle the mid 50’s at night as long as they can warm up during the day. But the 50’s at night and rain is a different story. I don’t consider that to be safe so I’ll bring them in on those days. So usually by mid/end of September they are inside but often that will extend to October. One year I brought them in on November 2nd but that’s an anomaly. I do my best to extend the outdoor time as long as possible. This is how I’ve been doing it for over 10 years and seems to work well for my redfoots. Never had a casualty and always get lots of eggs both outdoors and indoors.
