If I'd been at work today, I would have come home tonight to 2 dead turtles. The stand for my MVB came off the wall and the lamp fell straight down into the enclosure. Princesse's basking spot. Needless to say the stands are now screwed tight to the wall.

Lesson of the day: Screw double-sided tape. Pun intended.

but too bad you've lost your job. Do you have any prospects?

Sorry about the Job situation. Happy for the outcome of what could have been a real tragedy to not only your turtles, but your home.

Sure hope so. Lights and heaters are so very dangerous. I usually turn mine off, when I leave the house. I don't trust the cats not to find a way to cause them to fall or slide.

But just wanting to get this straight, you had the light taped up?

You caught that, eh?! Yup, the double-sided tape provided. It was meant to be temporary until I finished the lid but that was definitely unwise :-/

It was 12:30pm, so it would've been 5 hours until I would get home... Makes me shiver.

And thank you for the well wishes, I got hurt on the job and I'm recovering at home for the moment.

Thank you. Things do have a way of working out for the best. Some good did come out of this, I could enjoy the summer with my children, both human and shelled, and I was home to save the day when the light fell. My former workplace being investigated as a result of this injury is a good thing too, they really need to be taught a lesson on Human Rights.

I hit my head hard, got a concussion. I was denied medical attention and ordered to get back to work. Also told to pick up the ladder and climb up to clean some displays. I couldn't even walk unassisted... Our safety doesn't mean anything to them.
