looking for some help the back shell looks odd?

hes a red footed tortoise.


I noticed that hes back shell looked burn at first and slightly peeling. Ive been using the same lighting for 5 months and I change the brand of sphagnum moss about a three weeks ago. Can anybody tell if this is serious or just some cleaning please?

It does look a little like a burn of some sort. It may be shell rot. Are you keeping the moss real wet?

yea I have been I spray the tank before I go to work and when I get back from work. dang if thats the case Im going to take him to the vet. Thank you for the advice I wont be keeping the moss that wet again.

Maybe some shell rot? Try to keep you moss a little drier... it holds water well, so it's probably very wet now! Try spraying only once a day after is begins to fry out.
