Greetings. None of these little flighty bugs in our enclosures are really harmful to the tortoises. Gnats, springtails. fruit flies all pretty much thrive on the warm, damp substrate coupled with tort feces and food bits. Almost heaven for buggies. The trick is to spot clean waste, fecal material, dead plants if you have. Periodically remove some substrate and replace with fresh substrate. You can add red wriggler worms and/or rolly pollys (pill bugs).
