The thing about redfoot tortoises is that they come in a multitude of colors and patterns.
THIS IS WHY - they have been imported from all across [ at one time or another ] Northern South America longer than most of you have been alive.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? -
1 ) mainly.. after decades of locale cross-breeding in private collection we have every color imaginable.. in hachlings today.
2 ) it makes it virtually impossible to ID where a redfoot is from based on appearance -- if anyone has a question on that feel free to ask...
In late 1998 I acquired my first 3 hatchlings.. they all grew to be females - 2 males were added in early 2004 and it started - [ note date in pic ] -
These are a few 'favorites' from them -
Very first hatched ever.. Feb. 2005 -
Where did this color come from?
Could go on and on.. { none of these came from the pair shown with 'hour-glass" etc. }
Any questions feel free... will talk about what a few looked like raised by a caresheet established in 2005.
