these aren't two seperate breeds. Its a hybrid-a cross between leo and sulcata

Since the leopard and the sulcata both come from the same continent, the "don't mix species" rule can be relaxed a bit. The only reason to not mix them would be in the younger stages of the tortoises' lives, when the sulcata would grow so much bigger and faster than the leopard, and might harm the smaller leopard. But full-grown animals could probably take care of themselves.

The leopard tortoise is the bigger subspecies and can get as big as some sulcatas, from the picture of the parents the leo was pretty huge.

The ad is gone because the guy sold them all: here are a few threads

well the one you posted doesn't look like a possible cross-breed b/w a sulcata/leopard, it's just bright. Mine looks like that but he's a little darker.

crazy stuff!! can you cross breed any tortoise species?

I dont know, I had never heard of this happening untill I found this little guy. I do know that if its the same Genus but a different species it can creat a subspecies, at least this holds true with Tarantulas...then it has to do with the willingness of the two animals involved.

Perhaps I have misunderstood, but are you saying that a leopard will get as large as a sulcata? I have never seen or heard of such before...

And it is never a good sign when the breeder does not reply to your attempts at contact..? He should be there for any questions or concerns you might have, or encounter...

Anyways, bestest blessings for your lil' spook ~

Greetings Miller ~

Great image you've got there ~ talk about some big beauties! So which subspecies is the larger of the two, Geochelone pardalis or Geochelone pardalis babcocki?

Thanx for the reply,
Purpod

your talking about the guy who bought the cross breed? looks arnt everything though, it can look more sulcata but it still holds traits for the leoaprd tortoise, which means babies down the road can look more leopard..
