Hey y’all, I’m looking for some advice or clarification, whatever people can provide. Here’s the situation, we have a mature (~20 yr old) red-foot tortoise who, due to some mineral deficiency in his early days before we got him, has a larger than normal concave portion on his underside (he’s also larger than most males). While he tends towards being a little shy while pooping, I have noticed that at some point he stopped putting his tail out to poop like he used to. This seems to also coincide with decreased libido (he used to mount literally anything he could). Any thoughts? When I bath him I have to remove quite a lot of feces from inside the backside of his shell but even that doesn’t get his tail out?

Post a pic of the tail area from top and bottom.
Can you carefully grab the tail and pull it out? Can it extend straight out?
