We've always had a great population of clean-up crew candidates right in the garden, but this year?? NONE. We found some babies but they did not survive once we brought them in. I've asked local friends to check their yards for me but I think they're assuming I've lost my mind. Sooooo - I'm resorting to buying them online and need some reliable sources so I don't get a package of dead shells. Thanks !!

Some large chain pet stores can resell isopods from Josh' Frogs. If you are lucky enough to get a fresh stock this could be an option (anything staying on the shelves for a while is usually starved and dried to death).

Bringing pods from the wild is stressful for them, so deaths are expected. Adult pods usually do better but need some time to settle down and start breeding.
