Is this Breathing Normal?

Hey ,

I just received my Eastern Herman’s Hatchling two days ago . This could be normal behavior but I’m not sure because I never had a tortoise this young .

he looks like he’s breathing really heavy while he isn’t in motion his front legs are going in and out and he is like gulping his throat it’s puffing out . He ate and had been exploring his new enclosure and other than that super healthy .

What you are seeing is him smelling. He's taking big sniffs of the air.

That is perfectly normal and what he should be doing. That is just how they breathe and smell. Congrats on your new baby, he’s precious!!
