I got little bit paranoid about respiratory infections since my tortoise had one. So, I bought this from Amazon just in case. The main ingredient is belladdona. Why??????

Fever? Pain? Inflammation?

It's a homeopathic medication, but personally, if my tortoise wasn't showing any signs of the above symptoms, I would NOT use it!

Belladdona is highly toxic. It doesn't do anything but cause death if the dosage is wrong. But if the dosage is right it still doesn't do anything but harm. I just can't believe "Forever" company claims that product as a help for RI.

According to Wikipedia, it has a long history of medicinal use, but that doesn't mean it is good for this purpose.

"The modern pharmacological study of Atropa bella-donna extracts was begun by the German chemist Friedlieb Ferdinand Runge (1795–1867). In 1831, the German pharmacist Heinrich F. G. Mein (1799–1864)[20] succeeded in preparing a pure crystalline form of the active substance, named atropine."

When I googled how it could be used to treat respiratory infection, all I found was a bunch of stuff about homeopathic "sciences"....

Bottom line is, I wouldn't use it.

The D4 behind the name indicates the amount of belladonna in the medication. I suppose if one gave their tortoise a whole bottle they might kill their tortoise.
