Is his shell okay???

So I was soaking Mac just now and noticed this on his shell. It's not soft or squishy, is it normal????? It looks like a piece missing.. Help!!

Looks to me like you have a standard wild caught Russian tortoise with natural "wear and tear"
He looks just fine

I agree with Team Gomberg! Wear and tear. Russian tortoise don't usually have the prettiest shell, but they sure are great! The piece you see missing will never be the same, but will heal nicely over time.

I know how you feel! My Russian has a huge crack in his shell as a wild caught
