My Greek tortoise Darwin is nearly a year old so I ha a couple questions.
What is his gender?
Is he showing signs of pyramiding?
Is he growing ok?
Does he look healthy?
Does he look hydrated?
Anything would be great, thanks.
Here are some pictures ImageUploadedByTortForum1390523360.287927.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1390523402.728210.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1390523427.119609.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1390523452.461307.jpgImageUploadedByTortForum1390523470.512626.jpg[attachment=68399

Please excuse my misspellings and if the pictures aren't any good, please tell me and I'll get new ones

Do you have an idea as to what I could do?

He's a fine-looking tortoise. There's nothing to do about the bumpiness now. It starts when they are very tiny babies. Once it happens, there's not much you can do to stop is after the fact. Don't worry about it. It's not a death sentence. I'm starting to get worried that too many people are putting too much emphasis on pyramiding. Just do the best you can. Keep babies from hatchling to one year of age in moist environments and soon pyramiding will be a thing of the past.

Thank you. I've just heard so much about it and I'm getting worried.
Can you possibly tell anything about the gender?

You know what I have noticed about pyramided torts....they sure are alot easier to pick up out of their enclosure :)P) like little finger handles....I have two "teens" here and they were pyramided when they arrived...even though the new growth is smoother, they have these permanent finger grips when I go to lift them....hey, make the best of where you are, right?

Your tort is absolutely lovely.....if someone were to ask me which tort has a better chance at a long happy life--one with pyramiding or one with chronic RI due to poor humidity to heat ratio growing up---I would say the pyramided tort...

As Yvonne expressed, when the torts are younger offering up of a warm humid hide/area is without question, essential. But always remember WARM/HUMID=good WET/COLD= ill tortoise...

I am horrible at guessing sex, without laying hands on the tort and watching it in action....so I will leave that to the pro guessers ;)

I was bout to say, he is huge for a yearling. Are you sure of the age? Aside for that, pyramiding but looks healthy. Once he get to juvenile that's their permanent shell look but nothing too bad. ^_^

From the comments I read everyone is saying that yes there is pyramiding but nothing to worry about looks healthy
I was just wondering the length in inches? Nothing to do with health just wondering how big your tort is

He sure is cute!

As for size, it is so variable I think. I have two box turtles of approximately the same age. They are juveniles, both will be turning 3 years old this summer. One is 3.5 inches SCL and the other is 5.75 inches SCL. At one year old, the larger one was 3 inches SCL. And this is a box turtle I'm talking about. They all grow at different rates and so differently.

pyaramiding is usually a sign of MBD. You just want to make sure he is getting the proper intake of calcium, proper humidity and sun light (UVB/UVA) then she should be fine.
