If you mean coconut coir then yes. The coir is usually finer then the fiber. More like saw dust where the fiber is usually strands, like hair. I like the coir the best, as sometimes the fiber gets wrapped around a leg or if they eat it, comes out while pooping and usually has to be pulled out. Coir is just my preference.

A garden supply will probably be your cheapest option. Pet stores (sold as Eco-earth, plantation soil, etc) is typically the most expensive.

I've always gotten it at the pet store. Never thought about getting it anywhere else but as a college student always thought "my tort better love me for paying this much for stuff he'll poop on in 10 minutes!" do you know if Lowes or home depot carries it?

Lowes and HD don't carry it here. You have to go to a gardening store or Nursery.
