You'll find lots of great up to date information here and plenty of excellent advice from very experienced keepers worldwide.
If you let us know what sort of tort you have and can post pics of his enclosure, members will point you in the right direction to ensure he will be as safe healthy as possible.
There are caresheets for most species and the Beginners Mistakes thread (link below) is a good place to start.
I am just logging out but I'm sure there'll be many US members on here soon, best wishes for now.
