Identification?

Can anyone ID this guy? I know the photo isn't great, but he is shy to say the least! Notice the red head.

Ideas?

Its a 3-toed box turtle (Terrapene carolina triunguis)

Definitely an American Box turtle, Terrapene carolina subspecies. Exactly which subspecies can't be confirmed without seeing more detailed photos of it's carapace, plastron and head.

i was thinking T. carolina triungus also, three toed box turtle-male. a beauty
