I need a little help

So i was inside relaxing and I look out my window to find a tortoise walking up my drive way. I knew it wasn't mine since I only have deserts and they are currently at my boyfriends house (he has a huge yard for them). So the question is what type of tortoise is he, I want to take proper care of him while I look for his owners.

Looks like an ornate...or possibly desert box turtle. I'm not sure exactly how to tell the difference between the two.

I am gonna go with a desert box turtle, they are not native to california, so it is someone's escaped pet. If you try and find the owner do not put what type of turtle it is in the flyer, simply state lost turtle please call to ID.
