...so last night I went to Home Depot and got some supplies. After about an hour worth of nailing the wood together and laying the lining down I was finished.

Compare his old home to his new one. It's over three times as big!

Dane has not stopped moving around the place since he's been in it!

I love it! I just did the same thing. My plastic bin was the same size as your too. My new table looks about the same as yours too. But your wood looks WAY nicer than my PLAIN white book shelf. can ya mail me one? Just kidding, very nice.

Now we're talkin'!!! That's great! Nothing makes me happier than seeing a tortoise with more space. Now, with spring time coming have you got the giant outdoor pen planned out yet?

Roachman, I am going back home this summer to work and my parents have a two acre lot. I have a lot of landscaping going on there but I have a plan to squeeze in a 20'x40' area for Dane.
Joby, the temp right under the 150watt is slightly over 100 degrees, the 100watt is closer to 90 and the cool side in 68 degrees. He has one hide that is 83 degrees and the other is 75 degrees.
And sulcata, Dane is somewhere between 1 and 2 years...not quite sure.

Cool! No, I go to Minnesota Twin Cities...I went to a football camp at ISU during my junior year of high school.

Now tell the truth. Let's see how bad you've got it. Now that he's in there running around, do you wish you would have or could have made it even bigger?

That is a comfortable-looking pen and Dane seems to approve--happy chapter for you both! ;)

What kind of light is that in the fixture on the far right? It looks like a coiled one to me. As far as I know, those are bad (burn the eyes). But if it isn't, what is it?

I think everyone has that syndrome! I don't have a lot of space for my critters, but considering my fiancee and I are living with my parents right now I am glad to be able to keep the animals around at all. I just built a 6'x30" indoor enclosure for my red foot and will be building one the same dimensions for my russian group in the summer, but I am just itching to get my own place and build two enormous tortoise enclosures!
