I have a 8-10 inch sulcata and was wondering if she needed a humid climate? Also could someone link me the care pages I can never find them when people say they are linked on their signatures. I just want to make sure I'm giving her the best care I can.

Oh also what is the best dirt to get for the enclosure both inside and outside one? Could I use any from lowes or Home Depot ?

Re: RE: Humidity question.

Where in the world are you?

At 8-10" a sulcata should be living outside with a heated house to retreat to. At this size new growth shouldn't pyramid and so you don't need the humid environment.

If you are doing an indoor winter set up, I like to use plain, untreated top soil with no additives in it. I buy a 2 cubic ft bag from Home Depot for about $2 and some change. You could use this. Or you could use cypress mulch, orchid bark...the list goes on.
Outdoors I'd give her a big piece of yard that has sections of grass growing. Whatever dirt is already in your yard should be fine. None of the tortoises area should be treated with any chemicals.

I'm in Oklahoma so our nights are starting to get cool. She's a rescue someone was going to put out in the wild here since they found her by a creek. I'm still learning care for her. She may be a little smaller than 8 inches she only weighs maybe a pound.
