I do have one, but I have a few temporary problems.. One is that I am not sure if I made it right. It's just like toms but smaller and I put a paper towel folded up on the bottom and then covered it with Cyprus mulch.. It's been there for maybe four days, during the day it's under the basking bulb so it stays warm and I keep spraying inside it or adding water but my tortoise prefers sleeping on top of it.. So I don't know how to make him go in there while he's sleeping.. Also I cannot tell the humidity of the inside of it and tbh I don't really know how to go about finding that out. The last problem is idk how to keep it warm in there over night because as of right now, I do not have a night time basking bulb.

He is inside the house in an enclosure at night right? Get a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) for night time heat. It does not give off light and they last a long time. Just hang it over the hide. Humidity and temp gauges like these http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/cat...=None&Ntpr=1&Ntpc=1&selectedCatgry=Search+All

are the best. Or for heat, a temperature gun. If I am not mixing you up with another member, your tort is only 4-6 weeks, correct? He should be sleeping inside your house at night.

Okay, just looked up your other threads. I don't have you mixed up with someone else:D

Yeah I have a heat gun, I just needs way to keep the hide warm until I get a bulb even then I think the water stands a chance of getting too cold.. Also how would I mount a humidity checker in his little Tupperware humid hide?

Get the kind that has a small probe on the end of a wire, or the wireless remote kind. It has a small AAE you can Velcro and the larger base that you keep some place easy to read. They even come with alarms to let you k ow if the humidity is too high or too low. A regular light bulb, 60 watt, will give off heat. Not the best for night time, but you don't want a damp cold tort, that's when they get sick.

Ok is 85 and wet still ok, I just don't think that's warm enough

Yes that is fine. No lower then 80. But I wouldn't go higher then 85, except the basking spot.

Well I left the humid hide box without light and it dropped to 75, and he slept out in the open which was dry

I provided my little one with a humid hide in the beginning. He hardly ever used it but I didn't mind because I kept his entire enclosure hot and humid.

It just depends on how you want to raise him. You can let him sleep where it is dry and he'll pyramid. It isn't the end of the world but it also isn't the natural growth pattern.

Or lock him in the humid hide (after you fix the temperature to be 80F) so he at least gets some humid time.

Or make his entire enclosure humid so whether he goes in the hide or not he has the humid and hot conditions.

I really do try to keep it humid I spray it twice a day, and I soak him in a humid room. And I heat up his humid hide and make him sleep there till the temp drops to 80. I also spray him while he eats.
