how long do mvb bulbs last?

Ever since we've had Leroy as soon as his light would come on @6am he would be under it basking. Lately he doesn't come out of his hide till 9 or 10 and I barely see him bask. Just wondering if a new light could be the solution, i bought his powersun 100w mvb in October of 2012.

They will stop producing uvb over time . Without a uvb meter you cant check to see if it's producing . Some pet stores have meters and will test your lamps for you just call around .

They are suppose to last a year. However, the uv diminishes over that time.

I'Ll have to call around to the local pet stores to see if that service is offered. If I do end up getting another light should I stick with a 100w or would a 160w bulb be better? his indoor enclosure is 5'x2'. thanks for the help guys

If your temperatures are good with the 100 watt keep to the one that works .

yep his temps are good. Basking area is between 90-95, ambient temp on warm side is around 80/ cool side around 70.
