He looks very cute, but slightly pyramided. Could also be the angle of the pic. If its not the angle, check out the threads below in my post. Toms great threads on raising a smooth sulcata. Also, if you were using the forum to post your pic. Most have found tinypics.com or photobucket easier.
My first tortoise he is a rescue. Not sure of age. I've been told 16 to 20 months. I'm trying so hard. Are his scutes normal? And what do you recommend temp wise for him? I've Been told it varies with age.

I agree he looks good and smooth compares to many sulcata I've seen in my area.

He/she looks very nice. I saw a picture of him eating. What is his diet like?
He has a big variety he gets various weeds and grasses and organic spring mix, squash and occasionally fresh green beans with a little grated carrot maybe once a Week or so. I hope I'm feeding him correctly. I try to leave a little food for him all the time. I hope that's ok. And as I stated earlier i am new to this. Any advice appreciated.

That diet sounds good. I also try to feed pumpkin every once and awhile it acts as a dewormer and they love it. You might also want to look into getting some cactus pads
Thanks he gets cactus prickly pear I think its called. Can they have spineless cactus and I'm going to buy him some pumpkin. Thanks very much. I just wish I knew his age. Or if he's actually a he. Lol
Spineless cactus is great. Good source of calcium. Too much, though will give him loose bowels. Once a week should be good. The fruit,(pear/tuna) has lots of sugar so watch how much you feed. From my understanding of pumpkin as a dewormer, the active ingredient is in the seeds. To get that into your tort, would require you to blend skin,meat,and innards with the seeds

I have two yearlings that are his size if that helps. You can have them sexed by a vet via blood test. I think that's a bit expensive when it won't matter until he/she is older. I'm not sure but as long as the cactus is not poison it should be ok.

Where are you getting your tortoises DNA at? I was not aware that it was available yet.

Talk to your vet. Mine told me it was possible but expensive so I decided not to do it.
Oh yeah and it is still not even close to 100%. It is still new and doesn't work on all breeds.
