What temp is considered dangerous? I love to let my big guys roam the yard during the day but as winter approaches its only in the 80s for a few hours.

The ambient temperature doesn't fluctuate that quickly. Down on the earth, it takes a bit of cool weather before the earth starts to cool. Your tortoise is fine outside. And even if it gets cold, it's still not "dangerous." If it's getting down into the 60s at night, then I'd bring them in. But as long as the sun is shining, let them be out in it.

Interesting. I appreciate the input. Would you say they're still ok if its like 65-70 and sunny? I'm really paranoid about letting them get too cold. I have an aunt whose sulcatas heat lamp in their shed failed one year and they froze one :(

Sitting in the sun, protected from the wind, a tortoise warms up more than what your thermometer reads.
