HIBERNATION

One of my Russian tortoises that lives outside was eating up to around 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago. Now she is in the cave/hide with the other Russian tortoises and is not coming out anymore and seems to be hibernating. I am concerned because she was still eating and therefore would not have digested and eliminated the food from her intestines.

It is not a real concern. Despite what people think, things do not simply rot in the the gut during states of torpor. I think people just perpetuate what they pick up from others.
