Hi Tabby from Kent!

your Tgg is an old-timer just like my Joe and will definitely need to go outdoors.

The temperature MUST be below 10C, ideally around 5C, for a tortoise to hibernate. Your spare bedroom will be far too warm.

If you can rely on steady cold temperatures you could use a shed or garage, but here in Kent I had to give up and buy a fridge to hibernate Joe.

Happy to answer any questions
Hello Joe's Mum from Chippenham UK
We have acquired Terri from a farm park that was closing due to covid this summer.
We have been told she is in her thirties.
We have had great fun getting to know her and our grandchildren really like her, she seems to enjoy being petted and spoilt by children.
I have been very interested in the photos you have posted about Joe and his cold frame, etc. and I am looking for advice about hibernation for Terri.
She is an Eastern Hermann's I believe, has never been ill or been to the vet or microchipped.
Apparently she has organised her own hibernation some years and just turned up in the spring!!
We want to take good care of her so advice would be gratefully received.
All the best
Ruth
