My name is Elaine and I am the very proud owner of a beautiful 3 and a half year old Sulcata Tortoise.

Up until 2 days ago, the name I had chosen was Ruby.

After bathing the tortoise 2 days ago something popped out down below and now I don't know if my tortoise is a Ruby or a Ruben, lol.

Help........

Hello and Welcome. flip your Sulcata over and take a clear picture of the tail then we may have a guessing game because by 3 1/2 of age, still hard to tell sex.

Welcome. We do also like some picture with right side up. Hahaha.....:)

Its a BOY! Pass out the BLUE cigars...

Hello and welcome to the forum. Sulcatas are great. My favorite species.

Funny, my daughter has a blue tongue skink that she named Ruby, and we too had to rename it Rueben just recently...

Here are some sulcata threads and tips for you:

Thanks everyone.

So we're all agreed that Ruby should now be called Rueben?

Poor sod lives in a pink house, lol.

I suspect I may have to change that :)

i'm a guy and i rode around a pink motorcycle for about 2 years lol but that was just because i didn't have money to get it painted and it was a steal of a deal at the price lol

I'd call him Rufus since that means Red, but yes, unless you call him Ruby Jim, a name change is in order.

Definitely a boy but I would keep the pink house so that he grows up in a diverse atmosphere! :)
