Hi. I'm new and I got 2 horsefield tortoises (both male) about 2 weeks ago. I soon realized that the smaller tortoise wasn't eating very much, had a very scratched shell and was altogether not as healthy.

I then did some research and found out that tortoises should never be kept together. coincidentally I had 2 tortoise enclosures. One of them is about half the size of the other. I am now keeping the tortoises separate, but I was wondering if I should swap the tortoises (so that it would be fair for one of them to have a bigger enclosure) or if that would unsettle them?

Could we see pictures? How big are the enclosures? Where did you get the tortoises?

Be sure to give these a read-

Here's some photos of the enclosures sorry if they aren't very good. I got the tortoises from a friend of a friend. She said she bought them because her young daughter wanted them and she just didn't want them any more. They were both living in wood chip in the top enclosure at the time.
And yes I have read the care sheet but thank you anyway. 1536338210431.jpegimage-20180903_155344.jpeg1536338315802.jpeg

Welcome and congrats on getting two awesome tortoises! I have one Russian and he is a hoot. Definitely get them in separate outside enclosures as soon as you can.
