Hi!

I have recently inherited the lovely Horris (pics above) but i know very little about him other than his age, which is around 44. If anyone could tell me what kind of tortoise Horris is and any tips on caring for him i would be very grateful!

Thank you, Michelle & Horris x

Hello, Michelle, and a very warm welcome to tortoise Forum to you and Horris.
It's a Greek, like my little girl, Testudo graeca graeca.
Lovely tortoise.
Please read http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/beginner-mistakes.45180/
and http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/greek-tortoise-testudo-graeca-care-sheet-overview.87146/
for some help, though the tortoise seems to be doing great so far!

Hello and welcome @horris.

I completely agree. Welcome from me and Joe, a TGG (Testudo Graeca Graeca) living in west Kent :)

I imagine Horris is a 'garden tort' like Joe so you will probably find this useful too

I'm happy to take questions... we've had Joe for 46 years and live pretty close to you climate wise :)

Just so you know, Horris's diet should be leafy greens.

Just like Joe, he'll adore eating red stuff like tomatoes and strawberries. Unfortunately, Greeks can't digest sugars properly, they cause kidney and digestive problems, so fruit, tomato, carrot and peppers should only be fed very sparingly and very occasionally.
