Ah so they are leopards.
I have loved tortoises all my life and was lucky to be gifted with these babies, They are male and female. Bonnie is very bust and nosey. Clyde a bit more shy.

Want to learn all I can about giving them the best care possible

Since you're fairly new to tortoises I want to make sure you understand that the dogs will eventually chew on the tortoises, so you should never leave them alone together.

Also, I'd like to see pictures of the undersides of the tortoises, including the tail section so we can be sure you have a male and a female.

Your tortoises are very pretty and whoever raised them from babies has done a wonderful job keeping the shells smooth.

I think they still have some changing to do, but right now it looks like you DO have a pair, however, they are reversed from what you thought. The first picture on the left looks female and the one on the right looks male.
