Hello!

I’m setting up a temporary tote closed chamber until my PVC is done in a few days

My problem is I set up my basking light with the Acadia 50 watt and the Arcadia dome at the highest height possible and my temp using a thermometer is reading 103-105 (I placed it on a painter tap roll for tortoise height) I also have it plugged into a thermostat for secondary safety (I also have a RHP, jungle led, UV t5 but not plugged in since baby won’t be in here long)

What can I do? Baby tort is coming soon!

Wiring basking lamp to a thermostat is a good safety measure in your case.

As suggested, a dimmer or a rheostat (the same beast, basically) will help.

Also, you can reduce basking time to a few hours in the morning and in the evening, when room temperature is lower.

Keep in mind, that both UVB and JungleDawn bars also produce heat - try to adjust timers to avoid all of them running st the same time. For a few days you can keep UVB lamp switched off.

Thanks everyone!

I was able to remove some substrate from below the slate basking rock which brought the temp down to 96 degrees

Currently in the tote on the one side is temp is 86 and humidity is 81 and on the other side it’s 81 temp and 92 humidity
