Help please

I left my tortoise in water for maybe 35 minutes deeper then I normally put his water. He is hidden in his shell and won’t come out. He does move legs his back some and front. But they are tightly locked in. What can I do??

I left my tortoise in water for maybe 35 minutes deeper then I normally put his water. He is hidden in his shell and won’t come out. He does move legs his back some and front. But they are tightly locked in. What can I do??

Try to hold the tortoise with its head pointing down toward the floor at a 45 degree angle. Then gently but firmly press on the bottom shell a few times to see if you can get any water out of its nose and mouth. This will clear the airway and hopefully get it to breathe normally again.

If it recovers, remember NEVER to leave a tortoise unattended in water. It's just a recipe for disaster.
