I literally set it up 4 hours ago ?‍♀️
it’s the right bulb for the lamp as recommended by the company?
help am I doing something wrong?
Has anyone else had this?
I’ve done £70 in bulbs in 4 days ??‍♀️

These mercury vapor lamps won't turn back on for about 15-20min after you shut them off. So if you just turned it off it won't come back on right away. You need to give it some time before turning it back on.

Those bulbs are sensitive, expensive and dry torts out. Ur better off just buying a regular $2 flood bulb for basking and a T5 tube type for uvb

I wouldn't recommend either that bulb or that fixture. Get a wide domed ceramic based fixture, and don't use MVBs over tortoises.

What species have you got?

I agree that MVB aren't good at anything and are a waste of money that could've been spent on other things.
Keep in mind that any bulb that has a heated filament (incandescent) needs to remain still while it's in operation. The filament is very fragile and can fail from a shock or even a vibration.
Hanging them from a permanent fixture increases their life as opposed to having it sitting on top of an enclosure.
