Hello tortoise world.
My name is Andy and I am from surrey England
My tortoise is called tilly and she is a 2 year old Hermann.
She is still at the pet shop and I will be picking her up in a week or 2 and my 18 month old daughter and me are very excited.
These pictures are of tilly at the shop and my table setup will be ready from this weekend.20171119_115401.jpg20171119_115354.jpg

Nice! Hope ya'll enjoy her (and vice versa). Curious... did you choose her name or is that what she was being called at the store?

Hello.
At first we thought she was a he so went through lots of male names but then found out she is a she and yes we named her.
In the shop they called her Dave. Lol

That's funny. So how did you find out he was a she?

There is a lady who works at the pet shop who specialises in all things lizard. She has 6 tortoise herself and although tilly has not been probed the lizard lady says best guess he is a she.
So I'll go with that.
What breed do you have?

Cool.
How big will your tortoise grow to?

My leo will get around 10 - 18 inches depending on sex (not sure what it is yet, too young to tell). My painted is about 6 inches now, but I expect it to only grow another inch or two.

18in is pretty big.
Tilly should only grow to around 7 or 8 inch so I have been told.
Do you have any live plants in with your tortoise?

Yes... I have an aloe plant and some cat grass in there right now. In the Spring, I'm going to put in a hosta or two. I'm in the middle of building another enclosure for it and I'm trying to build it around a mental picture of what I want it to look like with all the plants and fixtures. Easier said than done, because I change my mind every other day. lol. The specs for my new one will be completely computerized. I have my Linux server set up to have temperature and humidity regulated and charted as well as the ventilation system and cameras. I have the cameras set up now according to zones, and they alert me if my leo flips himself upside down. Believe it or not.... it actually works great. Pretty simple concept. The zones essentially send me an alert for any sudden, quick motions. They are quiet when it is doing its normal thing though.

Computerized tortoise enclosure. Sounds a bit big brother to me. I do like the idea of the camera though. I have thought of that myself but not sure yet.

Lol.
I do also like the idea of live plants but need to get her home and settled before I get too carried away.

Always good to think ahead and have a plan! ;)
After joining this forum and receiving feedback from other members, my original plans were turned upside down, but for the better. I LOVE this forum! So many helpful folks here. Hopefully you'll get as much out of it as I am.
