RE: Heeelllpp!!??

Go get him now and bring him inside...if you let the tort remain outdoors in the exposed freezing temps he will die....he can have permanent blindness at the least due to the eyeballs freezing...

Heeelllpp!!??

He is indoors but seems to be fast asleep. Should I let him wakeup? They are free and happy in the garden... This is the first time in the 4 years I had them something like this happened... Should I put him in our fridge until the snow is gone? We should have 10-12 degrees celcius in a few days.

Ok, um do you know what your doing. Not trying to attack you, I swear, but I highly suggest not to hibernate. If you don't know what your doing, you can kill the em.

Hibernation also know as brumsting can be lethal if you don't know what your doing. It won't harm your lil one if your don't hibernate them.

Hi everybody.... No I don't hibernate them. We live in Istanbul, and we have a very big walled garden. They are free and we don't even feed them. Half of the garden is wild weeds and they seem to thrive as it is their natural habitat. They disappear late autumn and come back around april. I know they hibernate under soil, but don't exactly know where, otherwise I would put him in is burrow. This is the natural habitat for greeks.
We had an exceptionally warm autumn and the eldest of the 5 we have was not hibernating yet, infact I saw him munching on some dandelion only 2 days prior to the snow. Now, when I found him in his usual spot he was sleeping, and I wanted to keep him like that instead of bringing him into our very warm house. In the end, I cut a door into a plastic tub and put him under that under the hydrengia bushes, and covered the whole thing with 30cm of compost. He could get out anytime if he wanted to but seems to be asleep in there still. I don't want to distrupt his normal cycle, but could not leave him under the snow.

You did fine...if you looked him over and he appears fine and if you had him inside for a day during the harshest cold and then set him back up outdoors in a way that will allow him to not freeze then he should be fine....especially since he does his thing all on his own along with the others each year....:D just my opinion...
