Hi, I had 3 Hermanns hatch last week. One is much smaller than the other two and did not absorb his egg sac. He has not eaten yet. I have been giving them a warm bath twice a day and offering fresh food. Is there anything more I could be doing? Any advice would be great. Diana

First congrats on the hatching! Has the small one by now finished absorbing his egg sac or is he still doing so?

Hello and Welcome :) Also, Congrats on the hatchlings. I can't offer any advice, but sure hope the littles ones all do well.

One of my Russian hatchlings did not absorb his yolk sack. About a week later it ruptured, so we had to remove it. He was really lethargic, and I didn't think he'd make it, but he started eating the next day and is now doing very well. As long as yours is receiving nutrients from the yolk sack, it won't eat, but keep a close watch over him to make sure the yolk sack stays healthy and intact. Good luck!

Hi Jacqui - thank you for the congratulations :) His egg sac has shriveled up now, so I doubt he can absorb any more from it?

Hi, thanks for your words of encouragement! His egg sac has however shriveled up, so I doubt he is still receiving any nutrients from it?

Offer the little one reddish vegetables, like carrot or red bell pepper, chopped fine and mixed with greens...red gets 'em hungry, for some reason, and he'll start eating very soon.

Be sure and soak all three at least once a day.
