Today is day# 4 with my Eastern Hermann's Hatchling (hatched 4/25/20)... I have gathered SO MUCH helpful information here on TF.
I'm envious of some of the amazing enclosures I've seen; I'm planning on going with a closed chamber in the near future. I'm 'construction challenged' so it will be a pre-made purchase, for sure. For now his nursery is a 40 gal storage container on wheels, 36 3/4" x 21 3/8" x 18".
I have a 65w CHE, a 75w basking lamp, and a florescent Reptisun 10.0 UVB. Daytime temp ranges between 85-90, and humidity between 70-80. I don't have a thermostat yet, but hope to have one soon. For now, I've figured out when and how much aluminum foil to cover a portion of the nursery to keep the readings in that area... (not very pretty, but I read it on one of Yvonne's posts and IT WORKS
At night I'm covering it completely and not using the CHE. Night time temp is staying 72-75, humidity 80-90. I'm concerned if low temp and high humidity is good for a young hatching? Constructive criticism is GREATLY appreciated! I've only had him a few days, but I'm already 'over the top' in love! Oh, and his name is Shelldon ~not too original, but I love the name. Here's a few pics.... (I know I had too much food out for him... it was day #1 and I was a nervous wreck
