No harder than any other species. Most people that complain about stars being difficult just don't relize that they bought a smuggled stressed out baby that is already parasitized and has little chance of surving. I wouldn't say any species of tort is easy to take care of. They all have specific requirements(diet,heat,humidity,lighting). I think it is easier to take care of my dog. Just do as much research on any pet BEFORE you buy it.

I agree with Doug.
CBB animals are very hardy.
One word of caution, they pick up pathogens extrememly easily from other tortoise species or other Elegans that have been exposed to foreign pathogens.
