Some one told me that it is fine to throw you grass clippings in your outdoor enclosure. Is that right? It sounds like a good way to keep the food stock up.
Thanks

Clipped grass in a pile starts to decompose quickly and within MINUTES the inside of the pile gets VERY hot. If you want to throw your clippings to the tortoise, first be terribly sure there isn't any poisons in the clippings (fertilizer, weed killer, etc.) then spread out the pile so it doesn't build up heat inside.

Just understand that everything on your lawn will be mulched up in there too. Every leaf or piece of trash that blew in on the wind, etc. Some tree leaves should not be eaten by them.

I've fed them clippings. It works.
