I've done it often with no issues I would highly recommend getting some seeds. You can get tons for the same cost as a tiny pot from the petstore. I bought some from Amazon and they sprout and grow so quickly (7-10days) with any kind of soil and no particular lighting requirements. I've grown them in a dark cabinet to keep the cats away or on a window sill with some light.

Yep. I use those in a mix I have created because I am big on instant gratification...lol They grow super fast and it's pretty impossible to kill!
