Good plants to grow

Would someone be able to give me some advice on growing my own plants? I've got a 18 month old eastern Hermann and would like to have a go at growing plants.

Hoping to dive into this topic soon for indoor/outdoor plant variety in each closure. Not many insights yet, but someone did mention Birds Nest Sansevieria, as a good indoor option, on a thread about Aloe Vera; The Sansevieria being something that seems to do well with incandescent/UVB light, and being able to withstand the heat/dryness of being subject directly to those lights all the time.

Please do your own research and don't place these plants based on my input here. I do not know what I'm talking about.

This database lists a lot of plants, and their safety for feeding tortoises ... my understanding is that it's a good place to start.
