I wanted to get a good book about Russians. Not necessarily about caring for them. I'd like to read about the species and things like that. Any suggestions?

There are several good books out there on Russian tortoises (Testudo horsfieldii), Mediterranean tortoises (Testudo species), and tortoises in general. Here is a list of the ones in my library:

Russian Tortoises: A Complete Guide to Testudo
by E.J. Pirog (TFH, 2005)

Mediterranean Tortoises
by Brian Pursall (TFH, 1994)

The Guide to Owning a Tortoise
by Jerry G. Walls (TFH, 2002)

Tortoises: A Beginner's Guide to Tortoise Care
by Andrew and Nadine Highfield (TFH, 2009)

Popular Tortoises
by Philippe de Vosjoli (AVS, 2003)

And here is what I consider the chelonian keeper's bible. It's expensive, but to me, it was well worth it:

Practical Encyclopedia of Keeping and Breeding Tortoises and Freshwater Turtles
by Andrew C. Highfield (Carapace Press, 1996)

I have Russian Tortoises In Captivity on my Kindle and I love it. It's very informative and a handy go-to guide.
