Hi all!

We finally got our new terrarium!
IMG_0569.JPG

We decided on a jungle theme so we put up ferns as a backdrop. We affixed it with hot glue gun. We hope it stays.

Then we put the accessories such as the hut and other stuff like grass and rocks, water dish..

They loved it! totally wandered around exploring the place

But we realised that they might get stressed becuase the glass is so clear and they might want to get out.. so we had to border it with wallpaper so that they can't see the outside. :D

Hopefully I'll get to put in a bridge/log for them to climb over. Currently they each found their "sleeping" spot and won't budge!

That's a very eye-pleasing addition to your room. I like it. You might have to think about partially covering it to keep the heat and humidity inside.

it looks pretty long...lol

it was to fit our cupboards below. We wanted it to be exactly the size of the cupboards.. we're gonna have a heck of a time if we need to replace the cupbaords in the future. hehehe

fir bark. (sorry originally thought it was orchid bark!) We bought this in malaysia. It's called Forest Bark sold by Exoterra.

http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/forest_bark.php

But we notice our stars are a bit wobbly on this substrate so we will be switching to coconut coir in the future when we change this and see how that works out. They say it's dusty.. so we'll prob have to clean it up a bit first. PRetty cheap tho apparently about RM8 for one bag.

Forest bark should last us for about 6-8 months (we've been using it for about 4 months+) the downside is that it has splinters. That doesn't harm the torts.. but it's a bit painful for humans. but we cleaned it so that there was less chance of splinters.

Also, to reduce any smells of poop/pee (since its indoor) we've used a nano titanium spray (on the glass of our terrarium) to neutralise odors and kill bacteria so our terrarium is nice and fresh all the time!

Torts can get smelly!
