I was watching a British game show recently, and one of the questions was about the 4 types of marine salvage. I thought they’d make fun names for aquatic turtles, especially if you had a small group.
Flotsam: items fallen off a ship, or floating up from a wreck
Jetsam: floating items intentionally thrown off a ship to lighten the load when a ship is in danger of sinking.
Lagan: items fallen or thrown from a ship that have sunk to the bottom but have expectation of being retrieved, especially if marked by being tied to a buoy.
Derelict: a ship or items from a ship that have sunk and there is no hope of salvage. (Altho I might modify derelict to something more like Derrick so that the poor turtle doesn’t have self esteem issues ? )
