Tonight (1/8/14) the first ever (known) nesting from a Sicilian Spurred Testudo hermanni hermanni in the USA occurred. She laid 3 eggs for us and we're very hopeful.

I've been patiently waiting for this rare strain to begin producing and it happened way quicker than I thought.

Also hoping she's started a trend for the other females...

Feeling blessed!

Couple shots.

That's so awesome! I bet your elated:) sending good thoughts your way for your other females to follow and viable eggs...can't wait to see pictures. I bet you were shocked since you weren't expecting it.

The yellow markings on the mother's face are stunning. Congratulations! You absolutely have to let everyone here know when the eggs hatch. :)

That's cool! Congrats!

Can you provide any info or references for this type of Hermann (Sicilian Spurred Testudo hermanni hermanni)... I've never heard of it! I'm curious of the features that separate it from your other Thh.

Best of luck! Keep us updated...
Bob

Chris, I don't think anyone on the planet is as thrilled about this as you, but man, I am so stoked about this! Thank you for sharing this amazing moment in time with us.

What is the "normal" time frame for this, and how long did this one take?

More info and more pics!!! Please.

And we're on to another female from this Sicilian spurred group now. Maybe this is a trend after all.
Nesting today 1/12/14 at 9:07am.

You are on your way man. What a great reward for years of unbelievable work. I can't even imagine how long the waiting list for these babies must already be...

Congratulations man. A job VERY well done!
