Your basking light is too far away to do any good and there is no warming light or light to warm him at night. I think this baby is too cold and soon will be sick if you don't change your lighting system. You have a wet substrate and no warming lights which means you have a baby who is cold and wet; a very bad situation to be in. Warm and wet is fine, cold and wet is not. So in my opinion you need to change your lighting and make that baby warmer before he gets sick and dies...

Good job on the new enclosure! Lots more room for him to roam around.

The box the light comes in usually states to have the light about 12" from the habitat..so I'm with Maggie on this one. Move it down lower.

Yep, put a hook up, get some chain (you can get these by the foot at hardware stores). That way you can get the lamp closer to the enclosure. Do you have a night heat source too, so the tort can enjoy darkness with warmth?
Also, get a shop or brooder light fixture with a ceramic (white) base, as these bulbs can get hot and melt plastic.
Looks like he now has a lot more room to move, you are heading in the right direction!

Moving right along.. but be sure he is warm enough..
:)
You can remove his water lid as long as you soak him daily.
How is he eating? still good?

Looking good.....have you found out what temp you have under the light during the day as well as under the night light?

Good choice on the night heating bulb :D

It looks good, you need some sort of heating light at night to keep the temp up and if you could partially cover it with a Tupperware top or something it would keep the heat & humidity in better.

Maggie3fan is trying to help. She has been taking care of tortoises and turtles in her real life and on this forum for many years. She has seen a lot of hatchlings die or get very sick and is just trying to help before that happens.

Just saw your black light, great job!

I didn't say the house was bad, I said the lighting was way off and the baby is too cold. You can't have a wet substrate that is cold. That light is too far away to do any good, and if he doesn't move it closer that baby will get sick and die and saying all that is a lot different than saying I don't like the house. I didn't say anything about the house...I'm just trying to keep him from having a dead baby that's all.
